Simone Biles Withdraws From The Olympics

Three-time Olympic gold medalist and a four-time world champion withdrew from the final games in order to focus on her mental health. Biles, after withdrawing from the women’s gymnastics team finals, said in a statement: “at the end of the day, we’re human too and we have to protect our mind and our body, rather than just go out there and do what the world wants us to do.” This is coming not long after another top tennis athlete Naomi Osaka also withdrew from the French Open to focus on her mental health.

Earlier today, Simon Billes re-tweeted a tweet that said, “prioritize your mental health.” She’s making the message really clear. Kudos to the brave and trailblazing athlete.

For the last 18 months where the world has been riddled with a global pandemic and massive disruption to our lives in several ways. A lot of people are struggling with their mental health, and are experiencing anxiety and burnout. Even star athletes need a break.

There’s been an outpouring of support from people around the world, including her teammates.

PLEASE REMEMBER: YOUR MENTAL HEALTH IS IMPORTANT, DO NOT IGNORE IT!
