Hi, my name is Jiji Majiri Ugboma and thank you for visiting Clever-ish.
I’ve created Clever-ish Magazine because of my love for writing, photography, and self-expression and it’s been a long time coming!
I was born in Nigeria and lived there for most of my life. Four years ago, I packed my bags and moved to the United States. During my time in the US, I went to business school and got my MBA, I also worked in research, non-profit, and online marketing all while nursing my desire to be a full-time writer. A few months ago, I packed up again, sold my car, furniture and moved to Europe (Madrid). My cross-continental experiences have definitely played a huge role in the person I am today. I’ve developed a sort of subtle third culture identity and growth in self-awareness that has fed into my desire to be creative.
I’ve had the idea to create an online magazine and writing platform for many years but there has always been something in the way – Business School, working in corporate America. Well, no more excuses!
Clever-ish is not just a place for me to share my writing with you but also a place to share other people’s writing, creations, candid expressions, and thoughts. I love having a good conversation, healthy debate, and reading a good article. This is what this site is going to be about.
I have a vision that’s probably too big for me to carry now but I’m taking it one day at a time. The gut behind my (potential) glory is perseverance and community.
As Editor and Creative Director of Clever-ish, I plan to stay away from underwhelming and dishonest content and bring you the most refreshing online experience. Put simply; I am very woke. And so is this site. This is my solemn pledge – one hand on chest, cup of coffee in other hand.
